We cut out the saturated board, dry the cavity, stain-block, and rebuild so the repair reads as one continuous plane. On a stained but structurally sound ceiling, skimming beats tearing the whole thing out nine times out of ten. It's cheaper, cleaner, and once it's flat under the light you'd never know anything happened up there.

This is the part we're a little obsessive about. We kill the room lights, lay a work lamp flat across the ceiling at a low angle, and that raking light shows up every ripple. We chase down anything that catches. If we can see it, we fix it before we call it done. Then dust-controlled sanding, a full cleanup, and we walk the whole plane with you.
